Children and the Society
UNICEF says, “Children are both makers and
markers of healthy, sustainable society.” Yes, we all know that society is an
inherent part of anything related to the human kind. Then why there is a
premonition that society is not committed to the success of our young people? Whereas,
a child learns from his home, school and society. We cannot deny the existence
of society in terms of growth of a child. Children are the future of a family.
They are our hidden treasures. When they are born, they are welcomed to the
family with lots and lots of happiness.
They grow and learn
different things from their parents, relatives and
the society where they live. Society
comprises various religions,customs, cultures, philosophies, ideologies etc. It
is an ocean of learning for the children. It develops an inquisitive mind in
them. Here, parents and teacher play a vital role to guide the children what to
learn.The parents and teachers have the primary responsibility in the individual
development of the children in adapting the social roles. As children are the
important part of a society, they become members of social groups with the
passage of time. In the words of William Shakespeare —
“All
the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players. They have their
exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts.”
These famous lines
exhibits the importance of social roles. Society helps the children to develop
and nurture the qualities to perform their duties well in the future. It is
obvious that the present pandemic situation has affected the children very
badly as they have to confine and learn within the walls of their home.
However, they are able to get in touch with the outer world through e-learning.
In this regard, society can play a crucial part in exhibiting the importance of
learning through internet. Social organizations can monitor and counsel the
children when required. For the prosperity and betterment, the children must be
guided to gather knowledge and wisdom. They must be taught not to waste their
precious time carelessly. Children are the bright future of the society and
builders of a nation. The great pop legend Michael Jackson sang,
“ We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones
Who makes a brighter
day.”
