THE SECRETS OF ASSAM’S TOURISM SECTOR

The North - Eastern states of India has always mesmerized people with their vibrant beauty , culture , traditions and many more . We often call Assam ' The Land of Tea & Rhinos ' . In global platform , it is known as “ Awesome Assam ”. Assam is not limited to two or three destinations , but it offers a wide range of tourist spots from Sadiya to Dhubri . Guwahati , the beautiful capital city of the state with its administrative headquarter in Dispur offers wonderful essence with its diverse culture and metropolitan environment . What we can show to the people is something different from others . Assam is famous worldwide for its One-horned Rhinos and Tea  but apart from Tea , the Kaziranga National Park and the Kamakhya Temple we have many more to showcase . The promotion is still less as compared to other major states of our country such as Maharashtra , Kerala , Gujarat , Goa , Rajasthan etc . Assam has the potentiality to attract tourists from all over the world . It can be on top of the chart if promotion and infrastructure are materialized in a proper way . The state is now having enormous attention and hence it has come out with new trends of tourism like Golf Tourism , River Tourism , Tea Tourism etc . The cruises , the heritage Monuments in Sivasagar , the golf courses etc . can be presented to the world in a new way .  Like we all know about Maharana Pratap , and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj , we can also introduce our hero Lachit Borphukan in the same way in the national platforms . People always talk about the heritage palaces of Rajasthan and its expensive properties , but people often forget about the Tea Bungalows of Assam . The Heritage Tea bungalows in Assam can be converted  into Royal Heritage Stay in Assam . The only rainforest of Assam and often called as ' Amazon of the East ' Dehing Patkai National Park is still unknown to many people due to lack of proper  promotion . The Nam - Phake and Tipam - Phake Buddhist Villages in Assam are still unexplored as Rural Tourism of Assam . The beauty and heritage of Dhubri and , Goalpara is still not explored properly due to less facilities and basic tourist infrastructure . The Barak Valley region of the state and Haflong area are still much behind due to inadequate tourism  infrastructure . We have the Brahmaputra river , Sualkuchi handlooms , bamboo handicrafts , which are our rich resources for tourism ; but still the state is not getting its actual position where it is supposed to be . People believe Sai Baba as a great saint and offer prayers at Sai Baba Temple in Sainagar Shirdi , Maharashtra , likewise we also have the great Baishnav saint Srimanta Sankardeva . The state needs to plan and execute making of Batadrava or Bardowa like Shirdi Town in Maharashtra . But due to delay in planning and less interest , these places are still unknown to other states .

There must be proper promotional strategies and marketing campaigns for all these places, otherwise the state will be not able to generate further revenue and employment . However , the Govt. of Assam has started promoting the state tourism everywhere with the help of Tour Operators Association of Assam . We are hopeful that one day the state will become one of the top 10 tourist hotspots in India .
