There are many rituals such as meditation , Ashtanga Marg , vegetarian food , charity and Buddha anointing which are performed on this special day .
Gautama Buddha was born on this day in 563 BC , attained perfection of sadhana on this day in 528 BC and attained Mahaparinirvana on this day in 483 BC .
Buddhism was introduced to the world through the knowledge of Siddhartha .
Buddha Purnima or Buddha Jayanti or Vesak is a festival celebrated mainly by Buddhists . The birthday of Buddha is celebrated in India , Sri Lanka , Bangladesh , Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet , Thailand , Singapore , Philippines , Cambodia , Laos , Malaysia , Myanmar , Mongolia , China , Korea , Taiwan and Vietnam .
Buddhists celebrate Buddha Purnima as the day of the birth , enlightenment and death or Mahaparinirvana of Gautama Buddha . It is also a very holy day for Hindus also . Hindus believe that the Buddha is an incarnation of Vishnu .
Buddhists bathe , wear clean clothes , worship the Buddha in temples , light candles and decorate temple houses with garlands and immerse themselves in the worship of the Buddha. In addition , Buddhists worship Buddha on this day along with Panchashila , Ashtashila , Sutrapatha , Sutrashravana and Samaveta prayers.
